Labor Day at the Zoo

Today was my first time to the Washington DC Zoo with Lucy. She has been with her gram and grandpa, and dad, but a first for me.

We started our day off early, and found street parking a little before 10. The animals were all out despite the heat - the panda was showing off and climbing a tree, the elephants were eating, and of course Lucy's favorite - the lions. We took her into the primate house and she enjoyed it at first, until the huge gorilla ran right up to where we were on the window and scared her.

The Eagle from Penn Station

Cranes - the bird house was pretty lively too
We left by 12:15 or so and walked to Cleveland Park for lunch. Andrew promised that the Firehook Bakery had a great outdoor patio and he wasn't kidding. It was like a secret garden.

Back to work and school tomorrow. Can't wait for fall, and for this little lady's 2nd birthday!
