With Bastille Day upon us, Lucy and I decided to tackle her cook book the Easter Bunny left called
Kids Cook French. Lucy spends a lot of time in the kitchen, watching us, and knows where important things are kept - like the cheese. So, it's time for her to get started!

The book. |
Since it was a rainy Saturday morning, I thought we should make one of the cakes. The only one we had all the ingredients for was the Almond Cake. Lucy started by buttering the loaf plan, which she did wonderfully (didn't even try to eat the butter!). The recipe required the food processor to grate the flour, sugar and almond slides. Lucy had a blast hitting the pulse button. She then stirred the dry ingredients into the wet; and helped pour into the pan. We keep her far away from the oven when open, but she saw the cake baking.

Stirring love |
When I was pregnant with Lucy, Andrew bought the book
Bringing Up Bébé. Keeping with the French theme, the book recommended cooking with kids as a way of teaching patience. Lucy saw the cake come out of the oven, and we waited about an hour before cutting into it. We did eat half of it though - it was small, and really good!

The final product. |
On Sunday we made a chicken dish from the book and tonight I want to try a spinach side dish recipe. Happy Bastille Day!!
