Huntley Meadows

Lucy has not been feeling well so we thought it would be a good day for a low-key activity. We heard about Huntley Meadows and its beautiful wildlife just a few miles south of Old Town Alexandria - just what the doctor ordered.

With Lucy in the stroller, we walked about a quarter mile on a nicely grated trail under a very wooded and lush meadow/forest. We saw lots of butterflies, dragonflies and different types of birds.

Lots of butterflies!
When we came out of the meadow we hit the half mile of boardwalk and saw lots of frogs, turtles, and could hear the beavers but not see them. We also saw a lot of ducks - Lucy's favorite.
Frogs galore!
Lucy walked part of the boardwalk by herself. The water was not too deep - but didn't want her to try to chase the ducks and fall in!

Taking a quick break

This was a great find and we will plan to do it again soon.

Activity Time: About an hour
