The Holiday Season

I love that Lucy's birthday is in early October. It kicks off a three month celebration of all things festive and now I love looking forward to a February baby - just keeps the party going!

As part of this three month holiday season, we went to the National Harbor on Saturday for the tree lighting ceremony and activities. We got there mid afternoon and walked around - or in Lucy's case ran everywhere and we followed her. The tree was gorgeous and helped Lucy to conceptualize what we talk about. We saw street performers and The Muppets which was showing on a giant screen. We went over to the Gaylord Hotel and ran through there.

My girl!
The highlight was Santa. We started talking about Santa about a week ago and on Saturday morning we asked her if she wanted to meet him. She said yes. We didn't find the Santa at The Carousel however The Black Dog store also had a Santa (and a dressed-up black dog) so we took her to meet him. She was really into him. She smiled and waved and watched him intently, but would not get closer than 5 feet or so. And she loved Santa's dog.

Since then, she has requested to read all the books in the house on Santa. But she doesn't get that Santa has reindeer - she thinks he has a big black dog. I guess that's OK too!
