At the Lyceum, Alexandria, VA |
With the cold weather, we've been looking for indoor activities to do with Lucy in Old Town on the weekends. A few weeks ago we walked to the
Lyceum - the history museum of Alexandria. Andrew and I read some of the exhibits while Lucy strolled around and sat at the kids table coloring. It was a short and free activity - exactly what we needed on that rainy and cold afternoon.
Today we wanted to do something similar so I consulted this
website. While Andrew was at the farmers market Lucy and I went to the
Torpedo Factory and had fun exploring all the little galleries - I had never been on the 2nd or 3rd floor before. Crazy how a child can make me slow down and see new things :) Andrew met up with us on the 3rd floor where the
Alexandria Archaeology Museum is. Again, this was an activity that was interesting for parents and interactive for kids -they have some archaeology plates that have been made into puzzles as well as markers/crayons, etc. This was also free.

We intend to visit the
Friendship Firehouse, but their tours for kids are from 1-4 on Saturday and Sundays - nap time. I'm not saying Lucy ever naps for three hours (we wish!) but in that time frame.

And for Mom activities, I recently reengaged in the Old Town yoga scene. While pregnant I went to
Pure Prana for prenatal yoga and loved it, but haven't gone since.
Radiance Yoga opened last year and since its just a block closer to our house (I'm all about convenience) I signed up for the Core Strength and Stretch class which is offered on Saturday mornings. It was great! So nice to have time to really stretch all those muscles that remain tight post labor. And, I'm not a huge yogi or anything, so this class was right up my alley. I will definitely be back.
