Lucy's birthday month!

October started with a party - Lucy's first birthday! The Hollands came to town and we celebrated with family and friends at our house. Lucy had lots of fun playing with her cousins and friends and eating birthday cake.

The following weekend Lucy's best friend Meredith and her parents Anne and Tom came to visit. On a rainy and cold Saturday we started with a tour of the Library of Congress, lunch at Good Stuff and then walked all the way to Arlington Cemetery. The rain held off for most of our walk, but when it did start up again we stayed dry in the Botanical Garden and the Sackler gallery.

Then we jetted off to the great city of Indianapolis. We've been twice now since the Dunhams moved there and find it an impressive city. This time they took us to the Zoo and the Indy 500 speedway for a tour - which was pretty awesome. The fall leaves were gorgeous and we loved looking at the stunning homes in their neighborhood of Meridian-Kessler.

The last 10 days of October my parents were here. They made the drive from WI with the SUV packed full of things for Lucy and my college papers. I can't believe I kept a folder from each class that contained the notebook and all papers and exams. I sorted through a few big boxes and concluded that I worked way too hard in college! :)

My parents brought out two costumes for Halloween, and as it turned out there were two opportunities for Lucy to wear them. The Saturday before Halloween the boutiques of Old Town do a trick-or-treat for the kids and Lucy was a frog. A good fit for her as she is not walking yet, but leaping just like a frog. And for Halloween on Lee Street Lucy went as a bumble bee. Lucy is always busy so we call her our busy bee -- another perfect costume.

It was a fun month that has sort of kicked off the holiday season. Thanks for reading and hope to see you all soon! Lucy says "Hi, Hi, Hi."
