I had the most wonderful experience tonight at Pure Prana Yoga in Old Town.
Since learning that we are pregnant (!!!) I've been looking at a few different places to try out the whole prenatal yoga thing. I don't do yoga otherwise, but since I need to take it easy I thought this would be a good way to do it. I heard great things about Mind the Mat in Del Ray and Arlington, and there are a bunch of places in Old Town that offer prenatal classes, but in the end it came down to convenience - Pure Prana is the closest to our house.
I went last week, and there were 16 women in the class. The normal instructor was out sick and this lady was good ... though I have no means for comparison. The class was not too strenuous, but fun. Each girl said their name, how far along they were, and something new they are experiencing. For pregnant me, everything is new! I got to be around a lot of other women with bellies - one that was even due that week - and I loved the sense of community I got from being there. I planned to paid $18 as a walk-in for the class, but being a new student I was able to sign up for 3 classes at $40. So I did it.
My second class was tonight - and it was a whole new world. This yogi instructor - Petra - was amaze! How do I explain? She is like a heath & wellness coach that connected physical strength with that little thing inside of all of us. It was awesome! I may be a bit sore tomorrow - arms and legs got a good work out - but just the right amount. I can't wait to go back next week! Go Petra!
And after the class I went to meet Andrew at Virtue. He loves that place.
